Published by Werner Laurie, First edition 1953. 212 pages plus photographs.

Very Good condition hardback book which is clean, bright and tight. The unclipped dustjacket is also in Very Good condition, with just a little wear at the top and bottom of the spine and some scattered light spotting. It looks very presentable in its protective cover.

Jimmy Edwards (1920 – 1988) was an English comedy writer and actor on radio and television, best known as Pa Glum in ‘Take It From Here’ and as headmaster “Professor” James Edwards in ‘Whack-O’

Prior to that, Edwards was a pilot in the Royal Air Force during World War II, earning the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served with No. 271 Squadron RAF, based in Doncaster, which took part in the D-Day landings. His Dakota was shot down at Arnhem in 1944, resulting in facial injuries requiring plastic surgery so he disguised the traces with the huge handlebar moustache that became his trademark. He was a member of the Guinea Pig Club.

This book was his first autobiography, aged 32, recalling the days when he learned to fly, learned to drink and began his career in showbusiness as well as covering his wartime service in the RAF,

Edwards was a born raconteur and this is an entertaining and scare signed memoir.
