To Marigold Saville, who, when in the ATA enjoyed the experience of flying the incomparable Spitfire.
Marigold, I do hope that you enjoy reading my reminiscences and have a laugh with me.

between May 1943 and May 1945. She came from a military family with a highly decorated father and brother.

Fine condition hardback book and Fine condition unclipped dustjacket. Clean, bright and tight.
Joining the RAF in 1937, Ronald Wallens fought the Battle of Britain with 41 Squadron claiming three and two shared victories but on 5 September, after his final success, he was badly wounded in the leg by a cannon shell whilst attacking a Dornier 17 and baled out of his crippled Spitfire. Returning to flying later in the war, he commanded 277 Air Sea Rescue Squadron, picking up airmen who had ditched in the Channel and North Sea.
This is an entertaining Battle of Britain memoir, written with a typically British understated and self deprecating humour and crammed full of amusing incidents and anecdotes. With a great ATA association inscription.
