Captain Bill Williams joined the Royal Navy and qualified for his Aeronaut’s Certificate in May 1916. Based in Anglesey, he spent long hours on escort duty flying the Submarine Searcher class airships protecting convoys in the Atlantic approaches. In 1918 he was sent to Rome as Chief Officer of SR-1 and was later involved with the R-34 and R101.
A fascinating account of a little known aspect of early aviation and its vital role in WWI. A signed copy is a rare addition to any aviation library.
