The very rare signature of

Squadron Leader FPR ‘Pat’ Dunworth AFC

~ CO 54 Squadron Battle of Britain

Born in 1908, Dunworth joined the RAF in 1929 and his first posting was to 25 Fighter Squadron. In 1932 he had a lucky escape when he was involved in a collision with AE Clouston (the famous air racer and later BoB pilot) during a squadron formation flight.  Recalled to service at the outbreak of war, in September 1940 he took over from ‘Prof’ Leathart as CO of 54 Squadron flying Spitfires. Pilots on the squadron at the time included Al Deere and Colin Gray.   On posting from the squadron in 1941, Dunworthy spent much of the rest of the war as a flying instructor, leaving the RAF again 1n 1946. He passed away in 1982.

This nicely signed card dates from Dunworth’s time with 25 squadron and comes with a small piece of ribbon and a newspaper clipping showing the wreckage of his Hawker Fury.
