GUY GIBSON Log Book No.2
Pilot's Flying Log Book
Wing Commander Guy Gibson VC DSO DFC
PILOT’S FLYING LOG BOOK no 2
Published in 1976 by After The Battle Magazine.
Near Fine condition. Internally an excellent copy of this scarce publication. The cover has some discoloration spots which, according to your view, could detract from its appearance or add some character to what a log book is, a constantly used document recording an RAF pilot’s working life. See picture below,
Facsimile of the original log-book. Form 414. Blue cloth, with pilot’s name on front cover. Handwritten entries from 15th November 1940 – 16 September 1944. As called for there are 2 inserts: Summary of Flying (1941) & Aerial photograph dated 19.7.44 of a daylight operation near Paris.
This is a superb replica of Gibson’s Log Book no. 2 reproduced from the original held in the Public Records Office, London. This is now a collector’s item in its own right and covers the Dams Raid and Award of VC, the last entry being 16 September 1944, three days before he was killed. As close as you can get to owning the real thing!
No Dambusters collection could be complete without a copy of this log book.
