John Godfey was the top-scoring fighter ace with the famous 4th Fighter Group with 18 air and 18 ground victories.  He was the friend and wingman of the equally famous Don Gentile.   The press dubbed them ‘The Two-Man Air Force’.  In August 1944, Godfrey was shot down and captured but managed to escape just before the war was over. On return to the USA he became a State Senator but in his early thirties, he was struck down with sclerosis and although he had completed the manuscript, this book was published after his death.

‘The Look of Eagles’ is a frank, vivid account of a dramatically lived, event filled life and is the inspiring story of a courageous man.

This is a very scarce aviation memoir, never published in the UK, and an essential volume for anyone interested in the famous 4th Fighter Group.
